Armenia risks losing more than 80% of its apricot export revenue if supplies to the Russian market are halted, according to RIA Novosti, citing data from national statistical agencies.
Armenian apricot exports are seasonal, with Yerevan supplying the fruit to foreign markets from May through September–October.
Last year, Armenia earned $12.2 million from apricot exports to other countries. Russia accounted for the vast majority of purchases, importing Armenian apricots worth $10.3 million and generating 83.9% of Armenia's total revenue from these exports.
Armenian apricots were also purchased by Georgia, Belarus, and the United Arab Emirates. Georgia spent $540,600 on the fruit, Belarus $205,900, and the UAE $62,900.
