A meeting was held at the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan with a Latvian delegation led by Health Minister Hossam Abu Meri, who is on a visit to the country, as part of efforts to strengthen medical cooperation.


Welcoming the guests, Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev noted that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Latvia continues successfully across various fields, including the healthcare sector, Caliber.Az reports per the Health Ministry.


The minister emphasised that there are favourable opportunities to expand mutual exchange of experience in areas such as medical education, continuous professional training for doctors, scientific research activities, and the implementation of innovative medical approaches.


Musayev also highlighted that the digital transformation of the healthcare system is one of the key priorities of Azerbaijan’s state healthcare policy, and informed the delegation about ongoing measures in this direction.


During the meeting, it was noted that in December 2025, an Agreement on Cooperation in the Fields of Healthcare and Medical Science was signed between the two countries’ ministries, marking an important step in the development of bilateral relations.


Latvian Health Minister Hossam Abu Meri stressed that cooperation with Azerbaijan in healthcare is developing dynamically. He noted that such high-level meetings contribute to the development of healthcare systems, the expansion of professional knowledge exchange, and the further strengthening of the partnership between the two countries.


In conclusion, both sides expressed confidence that cooperation between the health ministries of Azerbaijan and Latvia will continue to develop on the basis of mutual trust and shared interests.
