Israel looks to revive ties with Colombia and take them to a record high level, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar has stated.

Sharing a post on X, Sa’ar congratulated Abelardo de la Espriella, who is expected to win Colombia’s presidential election and said he invited him to Israel, Caliber.Az reports.

“The Tiger has won, Colombia has won!” Sa’ar wrote, referring to de la Espriella’s nickname, El Tigre.

“We look forward to working with the president-elect to revitalise relations between Israel and Colombia and take them to a record high level,” he noted.

The president-elect is a strong supporter of Israel and pledged during his election campaign to fully restore relations with the country and relocate Colombia’s embassy to Jerusalem.

The final results in Colombia have not yet been officially announced.
