Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that his country has expressed solidarity with Cuba and support for the Cuban people in the face of what he described as “unprecedented external pressure.”
In a congratulatory telegram to Cuban revolutionary leader Raúl Castro on the occasion of his 95th birthday, Lavrov praised him as a symbol of resilience, courage, patriotism, and unbreakable will, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“Dear Comrade Raúl, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on your 95th birthday! Your life
He added that Russia highly values Castro’s personal contribution to strengthening Russian-Cuban strategic relations.
“We will continue to work hand in hand to strengthen cooperation both on bilateral issues and on international platforms in order to build a just multipolar world order,” Lavrov stressed.
The United States is reportedly seeking to hold former Cuban President Raúl Castro and five other Cuban nationals accountable in connection with a 1996 case involving the deaths of four people.
