Türkiye's National Intelligence Organisation (MİT) has detained 10 individuals linked to the Islamic State group (ISIS) during an operation conducted in Syria.
The suspects are Turkish nationals who previously left Türkiye to join ISIS and were later identified as being active within the group and involved in planning or supporting attacks on Turkish territory, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
One of the detainees is reportedly connected to the perpetrators of the 2015 Ankara railway station bombing, which killed 109 people.
The operation was carried out across the border in coordination with Syrian security services after intelligence tracking identified the suspects’ locations and movements.
Following their detention, all 10 individuals were transferred to Türkiye. Authorities said nine were formally arrested by a court, while the detention of one suspect was extended pending further proceedings.
Investigators also said the suspects admitted to receiving orders from ISIS, undergoing ideological and combat training, and participating in the group’s propaganda activities.
