Former British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has been placed on Russia’s wanted list by the country’s Interior Ministry.

An electronic entry has been added to the ministry’s official database, Caliber.Az reports citing a Russian media outlet, though it does not specify which criminal case or article of the Russian Criminal Code the allegations relate to.

The British politician has previously made a number of sharply critical statements regarding infrastructure facilities built by Russia in the past, including publicly calling for strikes to destroy the Crimean Bridge. Wallace also stated that steps should be taken to make the Ukrainian peninsula uninhabitable for civilians.

As Russian media recalls, Russian State Duma deputy Mikhail Sheremet earlier called for the former British defence minister to be placed on an international wanted list over his remarks about Crimea. The lawmaker argued that the British politician was effectively acting as an accomplice to terrorist forces.

The Russian government had already placed Ben Wallace on a travel ban list in 2022 that also includes former British prime ministers Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, along with several other officials. Moscow said the move was a response to the British government’s “unprecedented hostile action,” particularly the sanctions imposed on senior Russian officials.
