The European Union and Armenia have never been as close as they are today, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has said.

“And today we take our partnership to a whole new level. Long live the friendship between the EU and Armenia,” von der Leyen stated on X.

European Commission President made these remarks following a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and European Council President António Costa.

Ahead of the first-ever Armenia–EU Summit scheduled for May 5 in Yerevan, Pashinyan welcomed the EU leaders and described the occasion as a “historic moment,” marking the inaugural summit between Armenia and the European Union.
