A senior Iranian military official has warned that a renewed confrontation with the United States remains a strong possibility, despite a fragile ceasefire currently holding between Tehran and Washington.
Speaking on Saturday, May 2, Brigadier General Mohammad Jafar Assadi, Deputy Inspector of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said tensions between the two countries could escalate again.
"A renewed conflict between Iran and the United States is likely, and evidence has also shown that the United States does not adhere to any commitments or agreements,” Assadi said.
He also criticised US messaging, arguing that Washington’s public statements are driven by strategic considerations.
“US officials’ actions and statements are largely media-oriented, aimed first at preventing a drop in oil prices and second at escaping the predicament they have created for themselves," he added.
Assadi emphasised that Iran’s military remains on high alert amid the uncertain situation.
The Iranian Armed Forces are “in full readiness for any renewed adventurism and miscalculation by the United States”, Brig. Gen. Assadi stressed.
