A passenger train travelling from Kyiv to Uzhhorod derailed in the Lviv region after colliding with a truck crane at a railway crossing, resulting in casualties.
According to Ukrainian media, Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) said preliminary findings indicate that the truck crane driver entered the crossing against a prohibiting signal, leading to the collision.
The train driver was killed at the scene, while his assistant was hospitalised in serious condition.
The company added that the deceased driver was a veteran who had returned to his job after serving on the front line.
