Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has thanked the United States for a $100 million donation to restore the shelter (sarcophagus) of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
The statement was published by the Ukrainian leader’s press service on Telegram.
“A significant step in support from the United States — a contribution of $100 million for the repair of the Chernobyl NPP shelter,” the statement said.
He added that a total of €500 million will be required to restore the integrity of the shelter structure.
