European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated on April 29 that any peace deal involving Iran must address its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

In remarks to a plenary session of the European Parliament, she said efforts were underway to maintain a ceasefire through diplomacy and called for a lasting end to the conflict and secure navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

"Our shared goal is now to see a lasting end to the war. And this includes restoring full and permanent freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz without tolls. And it is equally clear that any peace agreement will have to address Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile program," she emphasised.
