The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has taken control of power in Iran, Reuters reports, citing sources.

According to the authors of the report, the war with Israel and the United States, along with a prolonged crisis, “have ushered in a different order dominated by commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps,” despite the emergence of a new Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Mojtaba Khamenei.

“Mojtaba Khamenei remains at the apex of the system, but three people familiar with internal deliberations say his role is largely to legitimize decisions made by his generals rather than issue directives himself,” the agency writes.
