Israel’s Foreign Ministry has accused the Iranian government of using its embassy in the United Kingdom to recruit individuals for militant activity, warning that diplomatic missions should not be used as cover for violence.

“The Iranian regime is reportedly using its embassy in the UK to recruit terrorists. Diplomatic cover cannot be a shield for terror activity," the ministry wrote on X, Caliber.Az reports.

The ministry stressed that acting against such missions is a necessary response to "a regime that exploits diplomacy to spread violence."

The comments were made in response to a report by the Daily Mail, which claimed that Iran’s embassy in London had encouraged UK residents willing to die for the Iranian state to register for an official “martyrdom” programme, raising concerns among security officials.

According to the report, the embassy issued a message calling for “all brave and noble children of Iran” who have a “desire for the people's defence of the land of Iran” to come forward in a “display of solidarity, loyalty, and national zeal.”
