The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its troops have expanded targeted ground operations in southern Lebanon, focusing on areas linked to Hezbollah as part of efforts to reinforce Israel’s forward defence posture.

In a statement, the military said soldiers from the Paratroopers, Commando and Givati brigades, operating under the 98th Division, have intensified activity in the Bint Jbeil area over the past week. According to the IDF, forces have surrounded what it described as Hezbollah military infrastructure and begun targeted ground operations, Caliber.Az reports.

The statement said more than 100 Hezbollah fighters had been killed in a combination of close-quarters combat and aerial strikes. It also reported the destruction of dozens of infrastructure sites and the seizure of hundreds of weapons, including some allegedly located in or near civilian facilities.

The IDF said the operations are aimed at preventing attacks on Israeli civilians and weakening Hezbollah’s operational capabilities.
