The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) say combat engineers have destroyed an underground route belonging to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

According to an IDF statement, troops from the 13th Battalion, operating under the 7th Brigade combat team, carried out the operation in coordination with the elite engineering unit Yahalom, Caliber.Az reports.

The military said the tunnel network was used by Hezbollah to prepare attacks against Israeli forces.

The route was searched before being demolished, the IDF added.

“The forces continue to operate in southern Lebanon and will act with force against Hezbollah, preventing harm to Israeli civilians,” the statement said.

The IDF said its operations in the area will continue.
