Israeli leadership expressed strong dissatisfaction with the US approach to arranging a truce with Iran, as Washington notified the Jewish state of the ceasefire at the last minute and without prior consultation, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing sources.
US President Donald Trump called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shortly before the truce announcement to inform him of the decision, without coordinating the ceasefire in advance. Nevertheless, Israel agreed to participate in the truce during discussions, according to the newspaper.
At the same time, Israeli authorities expressed displeasure with initial US proposals to include Lebanon in the ceasefire. As a result, Israel publicly stated that it would not halt operations against Hezbollah in that country.
