Cyprus’ top priorities remain the Middle East and the Persian Gulf, Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos said during a speech at the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, calling on the EU to take a more proactive role in the region.

“Two of the main priorities of the Cyprus Presidency were to put emphasis on the Middle East and the Gulf, and also on maritime security. These priorities have now became a factual necessity. As European Union, we must be more present and more active in relation to this conflict,” he noted.
