The U.S. Navy warships USS Bataan (LHD-5) and USS Carter Hall (LSD-50) have taken positions in the Strait of Hormuz, Caliber.Az reports, citing the X post White House press service in Arabic.
The publication states that on board these ships is the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, which includes about 2,500 marines ready to carry out combat missions and operational actions if necessary.
The deployment comes amid reports of Iran blocking the strait, which is one of the key routes for global oil and energy trade. The United States has declared its readiness to protect freedom of navigation and its interests in the region.
