Head of Communications of the Presidential Administration of Türkiye, Burhanettin Duran, reported that a ballistic missile launched from Iran and headed toward Türkiye was timely intercepted by NATO air defence and missile defence units over the Shahinbey area in Gaziantep Province.
Duran wrote on X that all necessary defence and security measures were immediately taken, with the Ministry of National Defence and other agencies acting in full coordination, Caliber.Az reports.
He added that the attack had no casualties reported.
He highlighted Türkiye’s high capabilities in protecting its airspace and border security
“It is extremely important that tensions in the region do not escalate and that conflicts do not spread to a wider area. We once again strongly warn all parties, especially Iran, to refrain from actions that endanger regional security and put civilians at risk. During this process, we strongly urge our citizens and the media to exercise caution regarding unverified content that may cause panic or contain disinformation, and to rely only on statements issued by our official authorities,” Duran said.
