A strong earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck off the coast of the Kuril Islands.
The tremors occurred at 01:44 local time on January 27 (18:44 Baku time on January 26), Caliber.Az reports citing the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The epicentre was located 139 kilometres east of Severo-Kurilsk, with the quake’s focus at a depth of 10 kilometres.
There have been no reports so far of damage or injuries resulting from the earthquake.
