BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 23. Kazakhstan and
the Czech Republic are set to expand trade and economic cooperation
in the agricultural sector, focusing on livestock breeding, modern
agricultural technologies, and increased trade in agricultural
products, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of
Kazakhstan
The prospects for expanding cooperation were discussed at a
meeting between Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Agriculture, Yermek
Kenzhekhanuly, and Czech Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jaroslava
Špalková.
The talks covered opportunities to increase mutual agricultural
supplies, strengthen partnerships in livestock farming and crop
production, and enhance cooperation in veterinary and phytosanitary
safety.
“We highly value the steady development of Kazakhstan–Czech
relations in agriculture. Expanding cooperation with Czechia is a
promising avenue for strengthening the position of Kazakh
agricultural products in the European market. To unlock this
potential, it is essential to develop direct business contacts,
diversify exports and ensure compliance with European quality and
safety standards,” Kenzhekhanuly said.
Špalková outlined key priorities in Czech agriculture,
highlighting cooperation in livestock breeding, aquaculture and
organic agricultural production.
The Kazakh side emphasized the importance of diversifying trade,
increasing supply volumes and expanding the range of products of
mutual interest.
Livestock breeding emerged as another promising area of
cooperation. Potential initiatives include the supply of pedigree
cattle and semen from high-value breeding bulls, improvements in
breeding programmes, the development of artificial insemination and
the exchange of expertise in herd reproduction.
The parties also addressed plant quarantine and protection, as
well as the digitalization and automation of relevant procedures.
They discussed opportunities to exchange expertise and
technological solutions to improve phytosanitary monitoring and
make regulatory processes more efficient.
Following the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to
further developing cooperation in the agro-industrial sector.
Advancing the identified priorities is expected to strengthen trade
and economic ties, expand business contacts and lay the groundwork
for a long-term agricultural partnership between Kazakhstan and
Czechia.
According to the Kazakh ministry, bilateral trade in
agricultural products between the countries grew by 31% in the
first eight months of 2026.
