The US deal with Venezuela under which Washington will take control of part of Venezuela’s oil reserves is beneficial to both Washington and Caracas and will also help lower global energy prices, President Donald Trump has stated.
Addressing the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, he said Washington is working closely with the leadership of Venezuela to create a better future for the Venezuelan people, Caliber.Az reports.
Trump noted that the sides, last month, signed the largest oil deal in history, covering 65 billion barrels of oil, “which will benefit both Venezuela and the US enormously and help drive down the cost of energy all over the world and that is starting to perk right now.”
According to the US president, the United States and Venezuela account for more than 60% of the world’s oil reserves.
He also said that the United States intends to encourage advanced developments in artificial intelligence (AI) rather than restrict them.
“We will only encourage superintelligence, not rein it in,” he remarked from the podium.
In his words, any major new technology comes with challenges for humanity, and superintelligence is no exception.
“Yet the very same people who said we’ll all be dead in 12 years because of global warming- a name since reborn to climate change because the planet was cooling, not warming, and nobody was dead- these are the same people that are now saying that AI is going to kill us all, that robots are going to attack us, and that everything is going to be a total disaster,” he added.
