A tanker was hit by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire on board, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said.


According to UKMTO, the fire has since been extinguished. All crew members are reported to be safe and accounted for, with no environmental impact reported.


Local authorities are investigating the incident.


UKMTO advised vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.
