The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said it destroyed an ambush position established by the military wing of Hamas inside a building near a hospital in the Gaza Strip.
The target was eliminated on August 25, Caliber.Az report, citing IDF's statement on Telegram.
“Israel Defence Forces struck and destroyed a structure in the Jabaliya area of the Gaza Strip that was used by Hamas’ military wing to establish an ambush position and store various types of weapons. Several militants were killed in the strike in order to eliminate the threat,” the statement reads.
The Israeli agency believes Hamas fighters had been planning an attack on IDF troops and were using the structure as part of efforts to rebuild the group’s military capabilities.
According to the IDF, the ambush position was located about 50 meters from the “Yellow Line” established under the 2025 ceasefire agreement, and posed a threat to Israeli forces operating in the area since that time.
The military also said the position was approximately 70 meters from Kamal Adwan Hospital and about 17 meters from a school, describing it as “another example of Hamas’ systematic use of civilian and humanitarian infrastructure in violation of the ceasefire agreement and international law.”
The Israeli military said measures had been taken before the strike to reduce the risk to civilians.
The statement comes amid continued tensions in Gaza despite the ceasefire, with Israel and Hamas repeatedly accusing each other of violations and of using civilian areas for military purposes.
