BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. The Turkic
Investment Fund (TIF) will prioritize investments in
infrastructure, renewable energy, climate resilience, water
security and small and medium-sized enterprises under its planned
co-financing partnership with the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyz Development
Fund (UKDF), the Turkic Investment Fund (TIF) told Trend in an exclusive
interview.
"Our initial focus will be on sectors where the respective
mandates and priorities of TIF and the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyz
Development Fund naturally complement one another," the fund
said.
According to TIF, the priority areas include physical and
digital infrastructure, renewable energy, climate-resilient
investment, MSME development, and projects aimed at strengthening
cross-border trade and connectivity.
The statement said water security is also emerging as a
strategic investment priority as Central Asia faces mounting
pressure from rising water demand and climate change.
"Efficient and sustainable water management is becoming more
important than ever," TIF said, adding that Kyrgyzstan's abundant
water resources and hydropower potential position the country to
make a significant contribution to the region's long-term
resilience and energy security.
It was noted that TIF is interested in investments that improve
water-use efficiency, reduce water losses, strengthen climate
resilience, and deploy innovative technologies to enhance the
sustainability of water and energy infrastructure.
"We are not looking merely for stand-alone transactions. We want
to support projects that generate broader economic value,
strengthen regional resilience and create conditions for further
public and private investment," the Turkic Investment Fund
said.
The TIF also described Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan as central to
the fund's regional investment strategy, noting that both founding
members are playing an increasingly important role in Central
Asia's economic transformation.
"We view them not only as individual markets, but also as
closely connected economies with considerable potential for deeper
trade, industrial cooperation and cross-border investment," the
fund said.
TIF added that the partnership with UKDF combines TIF's regional
financing capacity with the development fund's local expertise and
institutional knowledge, allowing the two organizations to identify
investment opportunities earlier and move viable projects toward
implementation.
"TIF brings regional reach; UKDF brings local depth. Together,
we can turn shared priorities into investable projects," the fund
added.
