BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. Pakistan will
continue providing political, diplomatic and moral support to the
residents of Jammu and Kashmir and raising this issue at
international forums, Trend's correspondent reports from the event.
The message of Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari was read by
Sara Ijaz, Deputy Head of Pakistan's Diplomatic Mission to
Azerbaijan, during an event marking the Day of Exploitation
(Youm-e-Istehsal) held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Baku.
"Pakistan remains steadfast in its moral, political, and
diplomatic support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, illegally
occupied by India. We will continue to raise this issue at all
international fora until the dispute over Jammu and Kashmir is
resolved in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council
resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people," the
message noted.
The message also pointed out that Pakistan views India's
decision of August 5, 2019, to revoke the special constitutional
status of Jammu and Kashmir as a unilateral and illegal step.
According to the President, these measures did not change the
internationally recognized status of the territory. He called on
the international community, including the United Nations, to
intensify efforts to resolve the issue peacefully.
"A just and lasting peace in South Asia is closely linked to a
peaceful resolution of the dispute over Jammu and Kashmir," the
message added.
The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic
corps, government institutions, academic circles, civil society,
and media organizations.
