Estonia will open its embassy in Azerbaijan in Baku in the autumn of 2026, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed to local media.


According to the ministry, Estonia's newly appointed ambassador, Tiina Nirk, is currently in Baku ahead of the planned opening.


"Estonia's newly appointed ambassador, Tiina Nirk, is currently in Baku, and the opening of the Estonian Embassy is planned for the autumn," a ministry spokesperson said.


In October 2025, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna announced plans to open an embassy in Baku during 2026.


Until now, Estonia's diplomatic mission accredited to Azerbaijan has operated from Ankara, Türkiye.
