BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 4. The political
dialogue between Azerbaijan and Switzerland continues dynamically,
and the parties are interested in expanding cooperation in all
areas of bilateral relations, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun
Bayramov said, Trend's correspondent reports from the event.


Bayramov made the remark at a joint briefing with Member of the
Federal Council of Switzerland and Head of the Federal Department
of Foreign Affairs, OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Ignazio Cassis, in
Baku today.


The minister said that during the one-on-one and extended
meetings, Azerbaijan-Switzerland bilateral relations, economic
cooperation, the Azerbaijan-OSCE agenda, the post-conflict
situation in the region, the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization
process, and other issues of mutual interest were discussed.


According to him, the parties once again emphasized the
importance of maintaining intensive political dialogue. "We
regularly meet within the framework of international events, hold
discussions, and periodically hold telephone conversations," the
minister said.


Bayramov recalled that in April of this year, the next round of
political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two
countries was held in Baku, and the importance of continuing this
format on an annual basis was emphasized.


The minister noted that next year, the 35th anniversary of the
establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and
Switzerland will be celebrated, and this date will create an
additional opportunity to discuss the results and future prospects
of cooperation.


According to Bayramov, 25 legal documents are currently in force
between the two countries, and a number of new documents are being
prepared.


The minister said that in 2025, the trade turnover between
Azerbaijan and Switzerland amounted to approximately $1.8 billion.
"Over the past 30 years, Switzerland has invested $1.6 billion in
Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan has invested $2.3 billion in the Swiss
economy," he emphasized. Bayramov added that currently 110 Swiss
companies have been registered in Azerbaijan, 87 of which are
actively operating. These companies operate in the fields of
industry, construction, agriculture, transport, trade, and
services.


According to the minister, the 10th meeting of the
Azerbaijan-Swiss Joint Economic Cooperation Commission is planned
to be held in the fall of this year. It's also considered
appropriate to organize a business forum within the framework of
the commission's meeting or shortly thereafter.


Touching upon cooperation in the energy sector, Bayramov
emphasized that SOCAR has been successfully operating in
Switzerland for many years.
