BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 4. De facto peace has
been established between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and this is the
most important achievement in the normalization process,
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a joint
briefing with Member of the Federal Council of Switzerland and Head
of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, OSCE
Chairman-in-Office, Ignazio Cassis, in Baku today, Trend's correspondent
reports from the event.
The minister noted that within the framework of the
Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, along with the abolition
of the Minsk Group, important steps have been taken to strengthen
trust.
According to him, over the past year, Azerbaijan has
unilaterally lifted a number of restrictions, created conditions
for the transportation of goods to and from Armenia, and also
supplied oil products to Armenia. "We can also note additional
positive developments in this direction," said Bayramov.
The minister emphasized that the most important point in terms
of finalizing the process is the establishment of de facto peace
between Azerbaijan and Armenia. "All the recent developments that I
have mentioned are being implemented on the basis of direct
bilateral dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This bilateral
format has proven its effectiveness not only for us, but also for
the whole world," he noted.
Bayramov also said that Azerbaijan is in favor of continuing the
normalization process in a bilateral format.
Touching upon the signing of the peace agreement, the minister
underscored that Azerbaijan's position remains unchanged. "We
consider it possible to sign a peace agreement after the
territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the Armenian Constitution
are eliminated," added Bayramov.
