BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 4. Kazakhstan plans to
expand domestic food production, the agricultural sector and
increase exports, with new dairy farms and investment projects
among the key measures, Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov
said at the government meeting.


According to the press service of Kazakh government, Sultanov
said the country is implementing targeted measures to improve food
self-sufficiency and reduce dependence on imports. He noted that
Kazakhstan plans to increase domestic production of several food
categories, including poultry meat, fish, sugar, cheese, cottage
cheese, processed meat products and apples, to raise supply levels
above 80%.


One of the priorities is the development of the dairy industry.
According to Sultanov, Kazakhstan will continue implementing a
preferential lending program for the construction of dairy farms.
"For example, to strengthen the raw material base of the dairy
industry, a program of preferential financing for the construction
of dairy farms is being implemented. A total of 95 farms with a
combined capacity of more than 500,000 tons of milk per year have
received financing, with 71 already commissioned. By the end of
this year, another 19 farms with a capacity of around 100,000 tons
are planned to be launched," he said.


The vice minister added that the expansion of agricultural
production will be supported by increased investment in the sector.
In the first half of 2026, investment in fixed assets of the
agro-industrial complex reached 926 billion tenge, rising by 55%
year-on-year. For 2025, the figure amounted to 1.6 trillion tenge,
which was 46% higher than the previous year.







Sultanov also highlighted plans to expand Kazakhstan’s presence
on international agricultural markets. He said that increasing
production and processing capacity will allow the country to
continue growing exports. "In 2025, agricultural exports increased
by 37% and reached $7 billion, with more than half of exports
accounting for processed products," Sultanov said.


According to him, Kazakhstan will continue developing export
channels and supporting producers in entering new markets. Kazakh
agricultural products have already reached markets in Morocco,
Algeria, the UAE, Vietnam and several European countries, while
supplies to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye have been restored.


The country also recorded strong results in grain exports, with
shipments of grain and flour in grain equivalent reaching a record
15.3 million tons during the 2024/2025 marketing year. "Thanks to
export promotion measures, Kazakh products have entered new
markets, while the oilseed industry is also showing stable growth.
In 2025, exports of sunflower oil increased by 41%, and refined
sunflower oil exports grew 2.1 times," Sultanov said.
