Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticised the United Kingdom's decision to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a state threat and condemned what he described as British involvement in US-Israeli attacks on Iran during a phone call with UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband.
During the conversation, Araghchi described US and Israeli military actions as the main source of instability in the region and said Iran had pursued diplomacy in good faith before Washington abandoned previous agreements, Al Jazeera reports.
He also said Tehran remained committed to working with Oman to establish mechanisms for managing maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and warned outside parties against interfering in the process.
Addressing the reported use of foreign territory in military operations against Iran, Araghchi argued that such actions would amount to aggression under international law.
Miliband responded by stressing that the United Kingdom is not participating in the conflict with Iran and reaffirmed London's commitment to diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions.
