BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 2. Azerbaijan's central
bank will begin circulating an updated 100-manat banknote on July
15, said a senior official in an interview with Trend
Rashad Mammadov, director general at the Central Bank of
Azerbaijan, said the bank informs the public about redesigned
banknotes and other changes before they enter circulation through
its official website and social media channels.
"One of the latest changes was the release of the updated
50-manat banknote into circulation in December last year. On July
15 this year, the updated 100-manat banknote is planned to be
released into circulation," Mammadov said.
He said the central bank's analysis showed that most counterfeit
attempts involve basic techniques such as color copying or
scanning, making the fake notes relatively easy for bank employees
and detection equipment to identify.
"As a result of the high technical indicators of national
banknotes and the reliability of security elements, the level of
counterfeiting of national banknotes is considered significantly
lower compared to the leading currencies of the world and the
currencies of neighboring countries," Mammadov said.
