Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov has highlighted the historical importance of the First Turkology Congress held in Baku 100 years ago, saying it helped lay the foundations for the intellectual revival of the Turkic world.
In an address to participants of Turkic World Week, dedicated to the centenary of the 1926 congress, Zhaparov recalled that the gathering took place during a challenging geopolitical period but addressed key issues related to the future of Turkic peoples, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He said the congress, held under the slogan “Unity in Language, Thought, and Action,” played an important role in strengthening cultural ties and cooperation.
“This was undoubtedly of historical significance in terms of strengthening fraternal ties and further uniting the Turkic peoples,” Zhaparov said.
The Kyrgyz leader added that the decisions adopted at the congress contributed to the broader integration of Turkic communities into the international community.
