Azerbaijan has consistently honored the legacy of the First Turkology Congress, Minister of Culture Adil Karimli said at the opening ceremony of the Turkic World Week in Baku, held to mark the 100th anniversary of the historic gathering.

Speaking at the event, Karimli said the forum reflects Azerbaijan's enduring commitment to preserving the shared values and cultural heritage of the Turkic world, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

"Today's forum is a manifestation of Azerbaijan's commitment to these values. We believe it will pave the way for new ideas and contribute to strengthening cooperation among the Turkic peoples," he said.

The minister recalled that in 1926, Baku hosted outstanding intellectuals and scholars who came together with great hopes for the future of Turkic studies and cooperation.

"Our answer is clear today: this idea not only survived, it grew stronger and, for the first time, united such a broad geography and such diverse voices around shared spiritual values," Karimli said.

He also announced that events marking the Turkic World Week will be held not only in Baku but also in the cities of Shusha, Khankandi, and Aghdam, underscoring the nationwide scope of the commemorative program.
