Armenia has begun exporting fresh apricots to the European Union through major retail chains for the first time, marking what industry representatives describe as a milestone in the country's efforts to expand agricultural exports.

According to Caliber.Az, the first shipment of Armenian apricots is currently being loaded and will depart for Poland in the coming days before being distributed to consumers across several EU member states, according to Hayway Group founder Artur Lewandowski.

Lewandowski said the shipment represents more than a routine fruit export, as Armenian produce will now be stocked by some of Europe's largest supermarket chains, which collectively operate tens of thousands of stores.

He described the development as opening access to one of the world's largest consumer markets and providing Armenian growers with an opportunity to establish large-scale, sustainable exports.

"This is a unique opportunity for our producers to develop large-scale and sustainable exports, while for our country it marks the beginning of a new trade route that could become one of the key pillars of Armenia's economic development," Lewandowski said.

"For many, this is simply another shipment of apricots. For me, it symbolises the opening of new economic opportunities for Armenia," he added.
