The move follows the successful implementation of the electronic permit (e-permit) system between the two countries. Officials noted that the full digitalization of permit issuance is expected to streamline administrative procedures, improve efficiency, and enhance transparency in international freight operations.
During the meeting, the sides also highlighted the steady growth in cargo transportation volumes between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in recent years, underscoring the increasing importance of bilateral and transit trade routes.
To support international freight transportation in 2026, the parties agreed to exchange an additional 6,000 electronic permits. The allocation includes 2,000 permits each for bilateral transport, transit transport, and transportation to and from third countries.
The two countries also approved an initial permit quota of 28,000 permits for 2027. The quota includes 12,000 permits for bilateral transport, as well as 8,000 permits each for transit operations and transportation to and from third countries.
The agreed quota represents an increase of 12,000 permits compared with the previous period, reflecting the growing demand for cross-border freight transportation and the expanding economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
