BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 24. Turkmenistan and
Poland have signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of
migration.

This was reflected in a press release issued by the State
Migration Service of Turkmenistan.

“A memorandum of understanding between the State Migration
Service of Turkmenistan and the Border Guard of the Republic of
Poland on cooperation in the field of migration was signed,” the
statement said.

According to the press release, the document was signed in
Warsaw during a meeting between Head of the State Migration Service
of Turkmenistan Amanmuhammet Sazakov and Commander-in-Chief of the
Polish Border Guard Robert Bagan.

The memorandum is aimed at expanding the exchange of information
and best practices, organizing joint consultations and expert
meetings, developing professional contacts between specialists, and
enhancing cooperation in migration-related matters, the statement
noted.

The sides also reaffirmed their readiness to continue
cooperation on initiatives and programs related to peace, security,
and sustainable development, and discussed prospects for
interaction within the global migration system, the report
informs.

According to the press release, both parties described the
memorandum as an important step toward strengthening bilateral
relations and expanding the legal framework for cooperation in the
migration sphere.

The sides expressed confidence in the further development of
partnership and pledged to continue collaboration in the
implementation of joint initiatives.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan has been steadily expanding
international cooperation in migration management and border
security. In April 2026, the State Migration Service held talks
with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development on
migration system digitalization, integrated border management and
participation in regional initiatives, including the Border
Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA), the Prague Process
and the Budapest Process.

Turkmenistan has also intensified efforts to modernize migration
administration through digital technologies. In June 2026, the
International Organization for Migration conducted training in
Ashgabat on digital border management solutions, including
migration data systems and information-sharing platforms. The
country additionally continues cooperation with IOM on migration
governance, refugee protection, anti-trafficking measures and the
implementation of international migration standards.
