US President Donald Trump has said that, following talks between Washington and Tehran in Switzerland, unfrozen Iranian financial assets could be used to purchase food exclusively through the United States.
Speaking to reporters at the White House on June 22, Trump said that the released funds would be directed toward food purchases and that all supplies would be sourced exclusively through the United States from American farmers, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“The money that is unfrozen will be used to buy food, and the food will be purchased exclusively through the United States from our farmers,” he noted.
He added that the funds would be used to buy soybeans, corn, and other agricultural products.
