Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on June 18 received a delegation comprising senior representatives of member organisations of the Arab Coordination Group in Baku, according to the official website of the Presidency.


During the meeting, Aliyev highlighted the importance of the delegation’s participation in the 2026 annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group. He noted that Azerbaijan and members of the Arab Coordination Group had established active cooperation, adding that several projects were already at the implementation stage.


The Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group, Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, praised the support provided by Aliyev for the development of cooperation between the bank and Azerbaijan.


Discussions underlined strong opportunities to expand partnership between Azerbaijan and members of the Arab Coordination Group, with emphasis placed on the importance of a favourable investment climate in the country for the implementation of joint projects.


A loan agreement on the “Construction of a new wastewater treatment facility in Sumgayit” project was signed in the presence of the President. A ceremony also took place for the exchange of a memorandum of understanding signed by the Ministry of Economy, the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan, and members of the Arab Coordination Group, providing for expanded cooperation on the “Construction of water supply and sewerage systems in 33 settlements on the Absheron Peninsula” project.


In conclusion, Ilham Aliyev presented Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser with the Order of Dostlug (Friendship).
