The United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) has conducted another counter-narcotics operation in the eastern Pacific Ocean, targeting a vessel suspected of involvement in drug trafficking.
According to US military information released on Tuesday, May 26, the operation resulted in one death and two survivors following a strike on a suspected drug-trafficking vessel, Caliber.Az reports.
However, in an official statement detailing the operation, SOUTHCOM indicated that three individuals were killed during the strike, which took place earlier.
"On April 26, at the direction of SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organisations. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. Three male narco-terrorists were killed during this action. No U.S. military forces were harmed," the post reads.
