Maimunah Mohd Sharif, former Mayor of Kuala Lumpur and Advisor on Sustainable Urbanization to the Government of Malaysia, has congratulated Azerbaijan and UN-Habitat for successfully hosting WUF13 and selecting housing as the central theme of the forum.

“I would like to congratulate Azerbaijan and UN-Habitat on hosting WUF13 and on selecting housing as the key topic, as I consider this discussion very timely,” Sharif told AZERTAC.

Sharif, a participant of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), noted that although the forum is not a law-making body, it provides an important platform for broad public engagement and dialogue.

She emphasized that WUF13 “serves as an inclusive platform where representatives from all parts of society gather to exchange views.”

Addressing the significance of the forum’s outcomes amid ongoing global challenges, Sharif stressed that the conclusions and recommendations emerging from WUF13 should be followed up through continued monitoring and future reporting mechanisms.

Sharif stressed that the outcomes of WUF13 should not only be recognized but also monitored and later reported at WUF14, given the current global crises.
