Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue defensive operations on several active front-line directions. He noted that Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi presented a report on the use of long-range drones against Russian oil refineries and export-related facilities.

“In particular, this night the Defence Forces of Ukraine carried out operations in the direction of the oil refinery in Yaroslavl — this is about 700 kilometres from our territory. We are bringing the war back home to Russia, and this is entirely just,” Zelenskyy said.

He added that strikes were also carried out against targets in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

“There were also strikes on certain targets in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. We are also preparing other manifestations of our long-range sanctions and mid-range strikes in response to Russian attacks on our cities and communities,” he said.

Zelenskyy also provided an update on battlefield conditions following discussions with Ukraine’s military leadership.

“We discussed in detail with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces the activity on the front line. Since the beginning of 2026, Russian losses on the front have already amounted to more than 145,000 people. In particular, nearly 86,000 have been killed, at least 59,000 seriously wounded, and more than 800 Russian servicemen have been taken prisoner,” he said.

He further stated that Ukrainian forces are achieving objectives in the border areas of the Sumy region and continuing operations against Russian personnel and equipment on other fronts.

“In the border areas of the Sumy region, we are achieving certain objectives. We continue to destroy Russian personnel and equipment of the occupiers on other directions as well,” Zelenskyy said.

He also praised Ukrainian drone operators and frontline units for their performance.

“I especially want to thank our drone operators for their accuracy. Active operations are also ongoing, and I would like to commend the paratroopers and assault units. Thank you to every Ukrainian unit that is achieving results!” he added.
