Russia’s Defence Ministry said on May 22 that air defence systems intercepted and destroyed more than 200 Ukrainian drones during a large-scale overnight attack targeting multiple regions across the country.
According to the ministry, a total of 217 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were shot down during the night of May 21–22. The attacks reportedly targeted 18 federal regions, including the Kaluga, Leningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Novgorod, Tver, and Yaroslavl regions, as well as the Moscow region and St. Petersburg, Caliber.Az reports.
The ministry said all the intercepted drones were aircraft-type UAVs. Russian authorities did not report any casualties or ground damage resulting from the attacks.
