Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has detained several high-ranking officials from the National Police on suspicion of corruption, according to a statement by Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko on Telegram.


Honcharenko said the officials were detained on suspicion of accepting bribes, adding that multiple senior figures across regional police departments were involved in the case, Caliber.Az reports.


Among those named are the assistant to Deputy Interior Minister Teteria, V.V. Vorobey; the Chief of Police of Ivano-Frankivsk region, S.V. Bezpalko; and his deputy, V.V. Yatsyuk.


Other individuals reportedly detained include First Deputy Chief and Head of the Investigative Department of the Ternopil Regional Police, A.B. Tkachyk, as well as the Deputy Chief of the Zhytomyr Regional Police, I.D. Hulevaty.
