The Israeli military said its forces killed a Hamas operative in southern Gaza on May 17, alleging that the individual was planning sniper attacks against Israeli troops operating in the area.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the strike targeted a person it said posed an immediate threat to soldiers deployed in the southern Gaza Strip, Caliber.Az reports.
The military said the operation was carried out using what it described as a precise strike and that measures were taken beforehand to reduce the risk of civilian casualties, including the use of precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance.
The IDF added that troops under the Southern Command remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue operations against what it described as immediate threats.
