Azerbaijan’s UN envoy discusses committee chair bids with Congolese counterpart

Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Tofig Musayev, held a meeting with his Congolese counterpart, Zenon Mukongo Ngay.

According to Azerbaijani media, the press service of the Permanent Mission of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the United Nations announced the meeting on the social media platform X.

According to the information, the sides discussed Azerbaijan’s nomination for the chairmanship of three UN committees: the Committee on Human Rights, the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, and the Committee on the Rights of the Child.

Elections to these committees are scheduled to take place in June 2026.
