A corruption and bid-rigging investigation targeting the Merkezefendi municipality in Türkiye’s western Denizli province has led to the detention of 13 suspects, including Deputy Mayor Emrah Karan.
The operation was launched following an order by the Denizli Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office as part of an inquiry into allegations that officials received bribes in relation to municipal tender processes, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
Police teams from the Anti-Smuggling and Organised Crime Unit (KOM) of the Denizli Provincial Security Directorate carried out coordinated raids, detaining 13 individuals suspected of involvement in irregularities linked to public procurement procedures at the municipality.
