A fire broke out at a warehouse storing plastic pipes in the city of Bursa in northwestern Türkiye, sending thick black smoke into the sky before firefighters brought it under control.

The blaze started in an open area of the facility in the Nilüfer district’s Alaaddin Bey neighbourhood. It then spread to plastic hoses stored in the warehouse garden, intensifying the smoke due to the burning synthetic materials, Turkish media reports.

The 5,000-square-metre warehouse belongs to a company dealing in plastic pipes, automatic irrigation systems and infrastructure pipelines.

Emergency services, including multiple fire and medical teams, were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze within approximately one hour.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
