Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said he has reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to ensuring security in the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a “historic duty” during talks with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
According to a post published by Araghchi on the social media platform X and cited by Caliber.Az, the Iranian foreign minister, said the issue was discussed during his engagement with the Indian side, alongside broader regional developments.
“In fruitful engagement with my host Dr. S. Jaishankar, discussed regional developments and clarified that Iran will always carry out historical duty as protector of security in Hormuz.
Iran is a reliable partner of all friendly nations, who can rely on safety of commerce,” he wrote in a post.
