Russia remains one of the most strategically important partners in Türkiye’s international trade, Deputy Trade Minister Sezai Uçarmak said during the “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum.”

“The Russian Federation is one of the most strategically important partners in international trade with Türkiye,” he stated.

Uçarmak acknowledged that there is an asymmetry in trade figures between the two countries but emphasized that geographical proximity plays a crucial role in shaping bilateral economic ties.

“But nevertheless, if we speak about the neighbourhood, through the Black Sea coast, we are neighbouring countries. The Russian Federation is located in the north of the Black Sea; we are located in the south of the Black Sea. And the Black Sea region, of course, in this respect has very important significance,” he said.
